St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church was built in 1975. This church is one of the most suffered churches in the Malankara Church dispute. After loosing everything to the opponents they constructed a small chapel at Vazhamuttom in 1975. A new beautiful church was constructed in 2005 and was consecrated by Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, the spiritual head of the Syrian Christians of India. Today The church has fifty families and one of the front runners in the fight to keep the true faith. The new church was built in the name of Mother Mary and the main alter is dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary. The other two alters are dedicated to Mar Bahanansahada and Moran Mor Ignatious Elias III bava. This church is also blessed with the the relics of late Patriarch Ignatious Elias III.
